QUESTION 1: What do you think is the theme (author’s message) in this book?
RESPONSE 1: I think that this book has two themes; Stravagation and Italy. It has to do with Stravagation, because the book revolves around Lucien Stravagating in and out of Italy. The other theme is Italy, because the book describes Italy quite a lot. There isn't really a message, but it could be chasing your dreams. If it weren't for Arianna going to Italy, she wouldn't have met Lucien.

QUESTION 2:What other character(s) beside the main character is really important to the story? How and why?
RESPONSE 2: A very important character in this book, is the Duchessa. She isn't the main character, yet she is very important. The Duchessa is what causes Arianna to come to Italy in the first place. Without the Duchessa, the book would be completely different. Along with that; later in the book I found that the Duchessa is Arianna's biological mother. Without the Duchessa, Arianna wouldn't even exist!

QUESTION 1: Do you think you would read another book by this author? Why or why not?
RESPONSE 2: I think I would read another book from this author because the book I'm reading is from a series. I like this book because it has mystery in it, and it's full of adventure. It's adventurous because Lucien is exploring Italy, so while the character is explaining everything, I learn as well. Considering I like this book, I would also probably like the other books too.

QUESTION 2: What has surprised you in the book? Why?
RESPONSE 2: In this book, there is a character named the Duchessa. She's very powerful because she's the Ruler. ( Their version of President/Queen.) Another one of the characters, Arianna, get's caught being in Belleza on the day that she wasn't allowed to go. She wasn't allowed to go because there's a law that forbids people that weren't citizens of Belleza to be there. The penalty for breaking this rule, is death. Not only was I surprised that Arianna was caught, but also that Arianna is free. Why? Because it turns out, the Duchessa is the Mother of Arianna. Arianna was indeed born in Belleza. This was shocking because it also turns out, that Arianna was living with the Duchessa's sister. And never knew.

This surprised me because I would have never thought that Arianna was the daughter of the Duchessa. I worried that Arianna would be sentenced to death, this definetly surprised me.

QUESTION 1: What is confusing in this book? Why? (Be specific.)
RESPONSE 1: One of the reasons that this book get's a bit confusing, is because the point of view of the characters changes a lot. There are three different perspectives. Although it has a star; *, when it changes, you still need to figure out in who's point of view the story is in. One bit of the book that was confusing before, yet not anymore, was when the 'Duchessa' get's married every year. I figured out later in the book that she get's married to the sea. I still don't know why, but the book mentions that it's a tradition of Belleza.

QUESTION 2: What do you think about a particular character's actions? Was he/she right or wrong to do that?
RESPONSE 2: In this book, one of the main character's name is Arianna. She meets a boy named Lucien; he came from another world. When the Duchessa calls him up to evaluate him, Arianna becomes furious and runs away. I think that Arianna should have stayed instead of leaving. I think that she was wrong to do that because it was only Lucien's first day in Belleza. He could have gotten in trouble, although he didn't. By leaving Lucien, she also left him on his own. He didn't know anything about the town that he was in.
